Fairfield Manufacturing Purchased By Swiss Company

Fairfield Manufacturing Co., Inc., the Lafayette, Ind.-headquartered manufacturer of gear and drive systems for mobile and industrial applications, has been acquired by Saurer AG. Based in Switzerland, Saurer is a global producer of textile machinery and power transmission solutions with over $1.8 billion in annual revenues and 8800 employees worldwide. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“This opportunity brings an exciting new perspective to our company and will help expand our services and offerings to our customers and markets around the world,” said Gary Lehman, president and CEO of Fairfield. “We look forward to becoming part of a world-class organization such as Saurer.”

Fairfield will become part of Saurer’s Transmission Systems segment which also includes Graziano Trasmissioni, a manufacturer of gears, axles, transmissions, and complete drive line solutions for the on/off-highway markets. Graziano, headquartered in Italy, has 11 manufacturing locations globally and employs over 3000 people.
