Subaru Unveils New Gasoline Engine
Subaru Industrial Power Products used the opening day of the World Of Concrete show in Las Vegas to provide a first look at its biggest move in small engines in years - literally and figuratively. The company unveiled its new EH99 gasoline engine, which is targeted toward a range of light construction, industrial and turf equipment applications.
Available in two outputs - 35 hp (EH90) and 40 hp (EH99) - the new engine is a 45 degree air-cooled V-twin with a bore and stroke of 90 x 78.58 mm and overall displacements of 990 and 999 cc. It incorporates a number of heavy-duty features, including a hardened valve system, cast iron cylinder sleeves, large steel bearing on the PTO side, large dual element air cleaner, full pressure lubrication system with spin-on full flow oil filter, oil cooler and pulse-type fuel pump.
A range of factory options are also available, including a remote oil filter kit, extended oil drain kit and large Donaldson air cleaner. The new engines meet EPA and CARB Tier 3 emissions standards, Subaru said, and have a five-year limited warranty.
