Scania Enters Gen-Set Business (Updated)

Posted on February 18, 2013

Scania made news this week at the Middle East Electricity (MEE) show with the introduction of a new range of diesel-powered generator sets.  The new range, all powered by Scania engines, will cover 250 to 665 kVA and will be available in both 50 Hz and 60 Hz versions and in enclosed or open configurations for prime and standby applications.

Scania's 9, 13 and 16L engines are being used and a new 770 kVA V8 XPI diesel, on display at MEE, will be released for power gen usage in 2013.  Alternators are from MeccAlte or Stamford

The new line includes 12 open gen-set models and 12 enclosed units, with Scania adding the prime power sets are EU Stage 3a compliant.  The sets are not expected to be available in North and Latin America.

More details on these new Scania gen-sets will be covered in a future issue of Diesel Progress International.
