Fan Retrofit Packages

Posted on March 20, 2014

Horton, the Roseville, Minn., manufacturer of fan drives, fans and suspension products, as developed a new retrofit cooling system engineered to replace on/off fan drives in heavy-duty line-haul and severe-duty vocational trucks where pneumatically actuated fan clutches over-cycle or do not provide optimum performance. The Modulator fully variable retrofit packages are directly controlled and managed by the engine’s electronic control module (ECM) in many applications and provides continuous variable, precise fan speed and is engineered to turn larger fans that require higher torque, the company said.

Two Modulator retrofit packages are available. For specific Cummins engine applications, the retrofit package contains:

- A Modulator RCV250 fan drive assembly, incorporating the Modulator fan drive, mounting bracket and pulley.

- A retrofit installation kit that includes Horton’s Di controller, wiring harness and a step-by-step installation manual.

- A WindMaster HS11 Fan

Retrofit packages for applications that do not require the Horton Di controller use the vehicle ECM to directly control the Modulator.

Product selection information is available on Horton’s website at
