Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC has announced that Ralph Burchfield, president Off Road Products Division (ORPD) (an operating group of BFNT) and Firestone Agricultural Tire Co. (a business unit of ORPD), and a member of the Board of Directors of BFNT, has elected to retire effective Jan.1, 2008. The company has also announced that, due to Burchfield’s decision to retire, it will streamline its organizational structure and eliminate the ORPD operating group. Effective Jan. 1, 2008, the businesses which are part of the ORPD group – Firestone Agricultural Tire Co. (FSAG), the Off Road Tire group (OTR) and Firestone Tube Co. (FSTU) -- will report directly to Asahiko “Duke” Nishiyama, president, BFNT.

Burchfield, began his career with the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. (a predecessor to BFNT) in 1971 in retail sales. He quickly rose through the ranks and in 1978 embarked on an international career with assignments in West Africa, New Zealand and Spain. Returning to the U.S. in 1994, Burchfield became an integral member of the FSAG team, accepting positions of increasing responsibility. In 2000 he was promoted to president, FSAG, and in 2003 he accepted the position of president of the newly created ORPD group.

In addition to announcing a streamlined organizational structure, the company has also named the leadership team for FSAG, OTR and FSTU, effective Jan. 1, 2008:

Kenneth Allen will be promoted to vice president, FSAG. Allen is currently executive director sales and marketing, FSAG. He joined BFNT/FSAG in 2002.

Thomas Shawn Rasey will be promoted to vice president, OTR. Rasey is currently executive director, OTR, a position he has held since April, 2007. He has been a member of the OTR team since 1992.
