Posted on December 6, 2005

Dana Corp. will build a new axle plant and a logistics center in Hungary, the Budapest-based business daily Napi Gazdasag has reported. Dana, a significant supplier to the auto, heavy truck and off-highway markets, confirmed through its Hungarian subsidiary that it had started building the plant, the paper said.

The report said that Dana will build a 107,639 sq. ft. plant and a logistics center in Gyor, northwest of Budapest, on a site formerly occupied by Hungarian axle manufacturer Raba, with which Dana has had a longstanding cooperation. Business and output plans are to be released in January, while manufacturing is set to begin in the first quarter of 2006, the paper said. It added that the new plant, the third one producing axles in Gyor, will initially employ 100 people, with plans to hire 150 more later next year.
