Liebherr Showcasing Components At ConExpo

Liebherr-Components will  show its new generation of diesel engines, compliant with EPA Tier 4 final exhaust emission limits, at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2014. The engines use selective catalytic reduction (SCR) with no no particulate filter, on these engines, which the company said provides for a compact engine installation.

The V8 engine on display will also show a hydraulic driveline consisting of splitter box and several hydraulic pumps, to underline the system expertise of Liebherr-Components.

Another highlight in the Components pavilion is the new common rail fuel injection system, with Liebherr’s own engine control units. These systems are already standard equipment on Liebherr engines with between four and 12 cylinders, but can be adapted for use on other manufacturers’ diesel engines, the company said.

In the gear transmission area, a notable development is the new series-production range of FAT travel-gear drives with hydraulic motors. This series, developed and manufactured by Liebherr, consists of 11 transmissions — the FAT 325 to FAT 1600 — which are available in crawler-crane or crawler-excavator versions. The corresponding Liebherr axial piston hydraulic motors with swashplate pitch adjustment, are supplied with these units and optimally matched optimally to them, Liebherr said.

Beside components from the production plants in Switzerland and Germany, large diameter bearings produced locally in North America will also be exhibited. At Monterrey in the Nuevo Leon province in Northern Mexico, set-up of a production site for ball and roller bearing slewing rings began in 2009. Since start of production in 2010, several thousand large diameter bearings have been delivered and many customer-specific qualifications have been carried out, Liebherr said.
