Isuzu To Display Tier 4 Diesel Line @ ConExpo

Posted on February 12, 2014

Isuzu Diesel is showing its complete line of Tier 4 diesel engines for industrial and commercial applications at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2014. Isuzu offers engine in outputs from 15 to 500 hp and all are designed to be customized to specific application requirements, the company said.

"Our history of more than 20 million engine applications worldwide has given Isuzu Diesel the ability to anticipate customer needs," said Atsumi Morita, vice president, PowerTrain Marketing, Product Planning and Purchasing, Isuzu Motors America, LLC. "Our innovative technologies make diesel engines quieter, more efficient and cleaner burning."

Among the highlights for Isuzu will be the launch of its Tier 4 final 4JJ1 and 4LE2 diesel engines. The 4JJ1 is an inline, liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine with a bore and stroke of 95 x 105 mm and an overall displacement of 2.99 L. Available in ratings of 93 and 112 hp and a maximum torque of 276 lb. ft., the engine utilizes a high pressure common rail fuel system, variable geometry turbocharger and dual overhead camshafts.

To meet the stringent Tier 4 final emissions regulations, the 4JJ1 diesel employs high efficiency cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) aftertreatment, while still maintaining a compact configuration (30.8 in. long, 28.6 in. wide and 33.3 in. high). Dry weight is 723 lb.

The 4LE2 engine is a four-cylinder, liquid-cooled diesel with bore and stroke dimensions of 85 x 96 mm for a total displacement of 2.197 L. It incorporates many of the same technologies as the larger 4JJ1, including a high pressure common rail fuel system, cooled EGR, and a DOC, but is equipped with a simpler wastegate turbocharger and overhead valve configuration. While also maintaining a compact envelope (29.1 in. long, 30.4 in. wide, 30.4 in. high with a dry weight of 478 lb., it delivers ratings of 62 and 66 hp and a peak torque of 159 lb. ft.

"Diesel engine designs ready for Tier 4 EPA requirements are praised by our customers because of the compactness of the Tier 4 envelope," said John Dutcher, director, sales & marketing. "With our distributor network of over 300 service centers in North America we cover industrial, commercial and marine products for our customers in a timely manner."
