Cat Introduces New F-Series Excavators
Caterpillar introduces the 390F and 374F excavators with Cat ACERT engines — the C15 in the 374F and C18 in the 390F — to meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 final emissions regulations.
Building off the D Series, the F Series models include the Cat Adaptive Control System (ACS) valve technology that electronically manages flows and restrictions to match hydraulic response to joystick movement. This feature smoothes hydraulic functions and adds to overall hydraulic efficiency and fuel savings. The hydraulic systems in the 374F and 390F are designed with major components in close proximity to offer shorter connecting tubes and hoses to reduce frictional losses and pressure. The new models can also be equipped with auxiliary hydraulic circuits to allow for the attachment of powered work tools with a hydraulically activated coupler.
The F Series offers larger glass area in the cab, with sealing and insulation intended to reduce sound levels for the operator. A new monitor programmable in 42 languages offers a larger screen with higher resolution with more intuitive navigation. There is also a climate control system and seat options. Both models are available with a range of booms and sticks fabricated with premium steel plate using high-strength castings and forgings in high-stress areas. A choice of sticks is available to match booms for meeting required digging depths, reaches, and breakout forces.
