Big Compression Order For Cat

Caterpillar’s Oil & Gas group has announced that MarkWest Energy Partners L.P. has ordered over 70 Cat G3600 engines gas compression applications. A combination of G3608 engines rated at 2370 hp and G3612 engines rated at 3550 hp will be used to support natural gas gathering operations across the Utica Shale and Marcellus Shale formations.

Initial shipments of the gas compression package systems are scheduled to begin in early 2014 with deliveries scheduled throughout the year. AG Equipment, based in Broken Arrow, Okla., has been awarded a contract for initial packaging of this equipment. AG Equipment along with Cat dealer Warren Cat led Caterpillar’s efforts on the sale. Cat dealers Cleveland Brothers and Ohio Cat are coordinating after sale support services.
