Power Control & Protection Conference Planned
Basler Electric’s upcoming 49th annual Power Control and Protection Conference (PCPC) has been developed to increase attendees’ knowledge and understanding of power generation systems by providing both an overview as well as an in-depth look at specific aspects of controlling and protecting power systems, said the company.
The conference will take place over five days, October 6-10, in O’Fallon, Ill., near St. Louis, Mo., and is hosted by Basler Electric. A wide range of topics is intended to address critical issues facing the electrical industry. Applications range from simple gen-sets to complex systems with multiple paralleled generators.
Each year, the conference’s presentations and demonstrations are updated to include the latest technology. For 2014, product simulations and demonstrations will be incorporated into presentations on a daily basis and include paralleled gen-set control, digital excitation/power system stabilization, and live remote access to the company’s IEC 61850 relays. Additional product demonstrations and a tour of Basler’s corporate headquarters and manufacturing plant in Highland, Ill., is included in the event.
Among the other topics planned for October is gen-set engine control and protection, including SAE J1939 CANbus for direct ECU communication, generator/engine control, load sharing via analog control or communications, automatic transfer control, remote communication, and automatic synchronizing.
