Heavy-Duty Coolant Filters

Posted on August 15, 2014

The Penray Companies, Inc. has introduced a new line of heavy-duty coolant filters incorporating synthetic media designed for Class 6, Class 7 and Class 8 vehicles, as well as mobile off-highway equipment and marine applications. Along with the synthetic media, many of the new filters incorporate Penray’s proprietary Need-Release technology which is engineered to introduce coolant additives and fortifiers on an as-needed basis and stabilize the coolant for extended service life.

Key to the effectiveness of the new heavy-duty coolant filters is Penray’s fiberglass-based filtering media incorporated into a triple-layer design that the company said provides exceptional filtration, even in extreme operating conditions. The design is built on a structural steel screen with an epoxy coating that that is wrapped in a non-woven sheet of polyester, then encased in Penray’s new fiberglass filtration media. The filters equipped with Need-Release include a membrane that senses deterioration in the coolant chemistry and responds by releasing one of its four charges of additives and fortifiers to restore coolant chemistry. This process continues over extended periods of time until all four charges have been released.

The new Penray synthetic media coolant filters are designed to last up to 150,000 miles, 15 months, or 3000 operating hours. The coolant filter media is fully compatible with conventional coolants as well as new-generation Extended Life Coolants (ELCs). Penray also offers mounting brackets, plates, and hardware for retrofit.
