Woodward, Inc. has expanded its ProAct actuator line to include the ProAct P-series FL actuators. This new actuator configuration accommodates wiring directly to the unit’s internal circuit board, eliminating the need for an intermediate connector along with its cost. The ProAct line is designed to provide electric actuators with internal power drivers to precisely position fuel pumps, fuel valves, throttle valves, and waste gates.

The ProAct P-series FL electric actuator provides up to 92 lb-in of bi-directional torque through 75° of rotary travel over an operating temperature range of -40 to +185° F. An internal terminal block accepts the position command signal in the form of PWM, CAN, or analog (jumper-selectable 0 to 5 V dc, 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 200 mA) through gland-nut sealed openings in the external case for an ingress protection of IP56.

The position command input can also be set up with a primary and backup input, providing redundancy with automatic failover and backup logic. Input power can range from 18 to 32 Vdc and also enters the case through gland-nut secured access.

The ProAct P-series FL actuator also provides a position indication through a 0 to 5 Vdc or 4 to 20 mA analog output signal along with a relay driver output to indicate an internal fault or error condition. The ProAct P-series FL actuators come in several output sizes and have the same mounting configuration as the existing ProAct actuators that use a circular connector interface.
