Caterpillar Buying Texas Machining Co.?

Caterpillar Inc. is planning to to buy a Texas-based company Machining Enterprises Inc. in San Antonio, according to bizjournals.com.

Texas Machining receives diesel engine blocks from Saltillo and Monclova, Mexico. The machined blocks are then sent to a Caterpillar facility in South Carolina.

The report said Caterpillar will hire Texas Machining's current employees and install a new engine block manufacturing line over the next couple of years. The number of workers employed locally was not immediately available.
