Exhausting The Process

Posted on April 29, 2011

Cummins Inc. announced that the sale of its exhaust business to Global Tube, a portfolio company of Wind Point Partners, a private equity firm headquartered in Chicago, Ill., has closed. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The sale was announced in late January and includes the former Cummins exhaust operations in Stoughton, Arcadia, Black River Falls and Viroqua, Wisconsin, as well as facilities in Scoresby, Australia and Daman, India. The exhaust business was a part of Cummins Emission Solutions (CES), which is within the company's Components operating segment. CES specializes in providing a range of aftertreatment solutions and emissions control technologies and the exhaust business was not core to that, Cummins said.

The closing of the sale marks the birth of Nelson Global Products Inc., which is led by CEO Thomas Gosnell a former executive with Arvin Meritor and Rockwell Automotive and 30-year veteran of the commercial vehicle industry. Nelson Global Products will specialize in exhaust and fabricated tube assemblies for the on-highway markets, including light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks; off-highway machinery such as agricultural and construction equipment, industrial machines and equipment, material handling equipment, small engines, commercial turf and lawn and garden equipment and even larger applications such as locomotive, marine and power generation systems.
