Biggest Bauma Yet

To anyone who spent last week in Munich it comes as no surprise, but show organizers have now comfirmed it: Bauma 2007, which ended its seven-day run April 29, was the biggest ever. According to show organizer Messe München, approximately 500,000 visitors, including 160,000 from an estimated 190 countries, visited the sprawling show grounds. That’s an increase of around 20% from the 2004 staging.

“Thanks to the joint efforts of the exhibitors, the Exhibitors Advisory Board and the global network of Munich International Trade Fairs, Bauma was able to further expand its leading position as a worldwide platform,” said Manfred Wutzlhofer, chairman & CEO of Messe München. “Contributing significantly to this success is the global boom in construction – above all in the emerging countries of Asia, Latin America and Africa – and also the pick-up in the construction sector in Europe.”

The 28th edition of the show also saw a good deal of commercial success, as the number of exhibitors rose 7% to a total of 3041 covering a total exhibit space of 1.93 million sq. ft. inside and 3.87 million sq. ft. of outdoor exhibition space.
